Minister of Defense of the Republic of Serbia Nebojsa Rodic paid a two-day official visit to France and met in Paris with the Minister of Defense of France Jean-Yves le Drian. Their talks focused on possibilities to promote cooperation in the field of defense particularly concerning joint training and engagement in multinational operations including stepping up military education, military economic and military technical cooperation. The meeting also addressed the Republic of Serbia’s efforts to strengthen regional connections and faster EU integration. The Ministers agreed that conditions have been created for full implementation and promotion of cooperation in the field of defense within the Strategic Partnership Agreement between Serbia and France. Even though the cooperation between Serbia and France is intensive, there is still room for improvement in terms of quality and quantity to the mutual benefit. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia is firmly committed to continuing cooperation with the Republic of France in multinational operations. Le Drain commended the Government of the Republic of Serbia for the progress made in negotiations with Pristina as well as for Serbia’s participation in multinational peace operations alongside with France. The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Serbia laid a wreath at the Serbian military cemetery in the village of Tille near Paris in honor of the Serbian soldiers fallen in the First World War. Minister Rodic will continue the visit to France by participating in the ministerial meeting aimed at preparing a centanial anniversary of the start of the First World War.
